Sara MacDonald

Sara is a mother to three children, aged 21, 18, and 13. Her 18 year old daughter has a rare disorder which causes her to be significantly delayed. Sara has been heavily involved in equal rights for people with disabilities.

Sara obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Social Policy from Anglia Ruskin University in England while she lived there for approximately ten years. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Social Work in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. Sara has a passion for social justice. She is a proud social worker and has worked in the fields of child protection, special needs adoptions, domestic violence, trauma social work, and long term care. She is proud to be serving as the president of the Fox Valley chapter.

Ashley is a long-time Fox Valley resident with a passion for creativity, strategy, and civic responsibility. She currently works as a Business Transformation Lead on Menasha Packaging's fit for growth initiative that impacts the overall operating model, process standardization, and new system implementation. Her previous experience includes procurement, marketing, and customer service for Menasha Packaging, event coordination and design with management consulting firm edge, and administrative and marketing functions for wholesale produce company Sunrise Farms, Inc. Her specialties include writing and editing, marketing, project management, scorecarding and performance metrics, change management, communication, training, and supply chain management.

Kaufert is a graduate of Indiana University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with specializations in marketing and public relations. She is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She has previously served on the Board of Directors at Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs and is currently a volunteer on their Facilities Committee. She has also contributed to the Sole Burner 5K planning committee.

Education: 1970 A.B. in history from Franklin & Marshall College, Pennsylvania; 1974 B.S. in criminal justice/police science from Columbus University, Georgia; 1976 M.S. in administration of justice from The American University, Washington, D.C.

Work Experience: Wisconsin Supreme employee from 1984 to retirement in 2011 serving as district court administrator for the 4th Judicial Administrative District (a 5-county area including Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Calumet, Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties); 1981-1984 clerk/court administrator for the Intertribal Court of Appeals in South Dakota, a consortium of five Sioux tribes; 1979-1981 juvenile justice planner (through the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration) for the South Dakota Unified Judicial System, state court administrator's office (Pierre, South Dakota); 1976-1979 Cumberland County criminal justice planner (New Jersey); 1970-1974 active duty U.S. Air Force, Military Airlift Command, Air Weather Service.

In retirement Jerry trys to stay active as a volunteer tutor for the Winnebago County Literacy Council, as a reading (United for Reading Success) and MAP math tutor for the Appleton Area School System, a reading tutor in the Neenah Area School District RRR program at Spring Road School, and as a volunteer at Evergreen Community in Oshkosh. He's a past-president of the Oshkosh Zoological Society and currently chair the administrative/finance committee for Learning in Retirement, a UW-Oshkosh educational program for seniors.

Jerry has been a member of the national ACLU for over 25 years and a local Fox Valley chapter member since about 2012. He has served as the Secretary to the Fox Valley Chapter of the ACLU of Wisconsin. His particular interests include freedom of speech, Native American rights, and the 2nd Amendment.



Norys Pina

Originally from Venezuela, 17 years ago, Norys came to Appleton looking for safety and a better future for her kids. Her new experience of being an immigrant and a minority had her discover her passion to work for the betterment of people’s lives, she dreamed of living in a more compassionate, diverse and inclusive world, therefore she started volunteering and working for social justice organizations in our community. She is the leader of “Unidos por un Futuro Mejor- Fox Cities” a group which main goal is to educate and empower Latinx in the Valley to work for systemic change.

Working as the Volunteer Coordinator of the Fox Valley Literacy Council she has had the opportunity to design and facilitate Cultural Competences, Implicit Bias, and Invisible Barriers for Adult Learners workshops.

Norys is a member of Voices of Hope, Immigration Task Force of ESTHER, Forcepart of the WI Women’s Network, Participant and co-facilitator of Wisconsin Leadership Development training (WiLD), Member of the Lawrence University Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, participant in the 2018 Women against hate.

Norys had received: Individual Community Leader Award of ESTHER (2016), Latina Leadership Recognition of Casa Hispana (2016), Si Se Puede. 29 Most Powerful Latinx in Wisconsin Recognition from Madison 65. (2017), & the Jane LaChapelle McCarty Community Leader Award (2018).

Emily is currently the manager for Butterfly Gardens of Wisconsin and does their social media marketing as well. Emily is homeschooling a little girl in Hortonville at her home, the girl has autism and ADHD. Emily has been a Student teacher at Appleton West High school working with at risk students as well as a student teaching at Menasha Middle School. She has been a stay at home mom since 2008 since her son was born. Emily has 2 sons with autism and a daughter with EBD. Consequently, she has done a lot with the schools just helping out with her children.

Education: Bachelor's degree from UWO In Business Marketing, Bachelor's Degree from UWO in secondary education broadfield social science with a minor in history and emphasis in economics, political science and sociology.
